Learning Disability Day Opportunities in Lincoln

At FocusAbility, our Day Opportunities service provides a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals with learning disabilities and autism can enjoy new experiences, develop skills, build friendships and become more independent.

Based at our Day Centre in Welton, near Lincoln, we offer a varied programme of indoor and outdoor activities, with support centred around the needs, interests and choices of each individual.

Our aim is simple – to help people live full and fulfilling lives while focusing on ability, not disability.

More Than Just a Day Centre

Everyone is different, which is why our Day Opportunities are designed to offer choice and encourage individuals to take part in activities that interest them.

Our support is person-centred, helping individuals to develop confidence, make their own choices and enjoy greater independence. Whether it’s learning practical skills, spending time with friends, getting creative or enjoying a day out, we want everyone who attends FocusAbility to have opportunities to achieve, participate and have fun.

FocusAbility’s wider approach is based around maximising choice and control while providing support appropriate to each individual’s needs.

Activities & Experiences

There’s always something to get involved with. Our indoor and outdoor activities can include:

  • Cooking and baking
  • Arts and crafts
  • Drama, dance and music workshops
  • Sensory stimulation
  • Pamper sessions
  • Discos and social activities
  • Animal therapy
  • Swimming and Bowling
  • Trips to zoos, theatres and music events
  • Days out in the community

And plenty more!

The activities offered are varied, giving individuals opportunities to try something different, discover new interests and enjoy experiences with others.

Building Skills, Confidence & Independence

Day Opportunities aren’t simply about filling the day.

We want the people we support to have opportunities to learn new skills, develop greater independence and form new friendships.

Activities can provide opportunities to develop practical and social skills while encouraging individuals to make choices and become more confident in themselves.

Our person-centred approach means support is planned around the individual, helping each person work towards outcomes that are meaningful to them.

Getting Out & About

Our Day Opportunities aren’t limited to activities at the centre either.

Days out and activities in the community form an important part of what we offer, with previous activities including swimming, bowling, theatre visits, zoos and music events.

These experiences provide opportunities to socialise, experience different environments and take part in the wider community with appropriate support.

School Holiday Support

FocusAbility also provides support during the school holidays, giving young people the opportunity to attend our Day Centre and enjoy activities while developing skills, independence and new friendships.

Our school holiday programme combines support with plenty of opportunities to have fun and try new things.
